Who We Are and What We Do
WHO WE ARE
-
We are the Ammoknights, robotics team #1566, stationed in Idaho Falls, under the direction of the FIRST organization.
-
We started in 2005 as Idaho’s original high school level robotics team competing in FIRST FRC. (We are the oldest team in the state!)
-
We have competed in every competition since we started. In 2019 we won our regional competition and were able to attend the World competition.
-
Every year our goal is to build a competition robot and make it to Worlds again. We also want to spread STEM in the community. (This is a youth-led, mentor supported team. Youth lead and do the work, with guidance from adult volunteers.)
-
Lots of team members have gone on to pursue engineering degrees in college because of this team.
-
We are a 501c3 non-profit: The Rockymountain Robotics Coalition.

WHAT WE DO
-
Each year we build a new robot based on that years’ FIRST FRC challenge.
-
We learn, and teach others, about programming, design, engineering, business, marketing, graphic design, social media, outreach, and networking.
-
We give students an opportunity to use STEM principles and problem solving in a real-world setting, teaching them skills that will help them be successful in the future.
-
We work to promote Women in STEM by hosting Summer OUTREACH camps for community members and girl scouts.
-
We support STEM in elementary schools by helping with the FIRST Lego League contests in the area and OUTREACH camps for grades 4-8.
-
We help Community Youth in Action (CYA) by hosting STEM classes for some of the kids in their facility.
